I've tried many companion plants, and their main qualification was and is tolerance of humid Zone 9 conditions. Lots of them simply became too big for my small garden, and since the daylily population has grown quite large the remaining companion plants have been reduced to my absolutely favorite, can't-live-withouts. So though others were great plants, they are gone and are notated with an asterisk.

Hollyhocks do great in Tampa Bay. I have two in bloom now. Hopefully later in the season I will have a lot more. I love that they last all Summer. That and my mixed border really make up for when the roses shut down in the heat.

I love your Clematis especially Princess Diana.
ReplyDeleteWhere do your get them from?
I got all my clematis plants from Brushwood Nursery. They have been wonderful to deal with always giving me great plants at very reasonable prices. Here's their website.
