Friends who come to your rescue are wonderful, but smart friends who know everything about roses are even more wonderful. My smart friends are on the Antique Roses Forum on the GardenWeb. I ran screaming to them this evening when I saw my 'Climbing Clotilde Soupert' invested with something!
Go here to see my cry for help and the instant aid offered by these precious rosarians. Everything I know and a lot of who I am is thanks to them.
Sherry, the advice you got was great. I usually only get spider mites in August, and yes, they love thevhot sun. spraying under leaves with water is good, but don't mist them....BLAST them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Professor. I definitely blasted them tonight and will repeat every evening until our rain starts becoming regular. I’ll have to check in the morning to see if I got all the webs. I also blasted the bush. Poor thing. I hope she’s not ticklish. I guess I should be checking all the roses.
ReplyDeleteWow, we get them a bit later in the season too. You are right, GardenWeb is a great resource, although sometimes I think it does feed my addiction a bit too much :).
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I really love this new font, it is much easier to read :).
ReplyDeleteGarden Web's Antique Rose forum is great. I also like your new font and look, and agree that it is easier on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beautiful roses. They are always a treat to see.

The Internet has been wonderful for finding others who share our same interests. It was wonderful to see how many other rose lovers responded to your request...and so quickly. Hopefully, you'll be able to get those nasty little mites under control. I get them on my azaleas that receive quite a bit of sun. I guess I better get out there and check them. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some fast help, and I hope those nasty things get out of your garden soon!
