Today after circumnavigating the garden and taking 427 photos I finally seemed to see the whole of it. I went to different corners than usual and found different sights, different pleasures.
Not feeling inspired to do more deadheading, I just sat on this bench with my netbook editing photos in the glorious, breezy 84-degree shade and enjoying the garden immensely until 4 o’clock when the hot sun found me.
From this peaceful nook the garden can be breathed in with no notice of the outside world. I think most of the hard-labor days in this garden may be behind me. Of course, not all, but I find myself just as fervently seeking out this spot as I did the next project. Today’s project was pure enjoyment – and that’s all.
From the back door ‘Mrs. B R Cant’ was looking so strong, fighting a good fight against the thrips.
She is becoming a real presence in her corner of the garden, relishing her cool shade.
This is the best she has ever looked. It’s been five years. That’s hard for me to believe. I had to subtract twice – 2007 from 2012. That’s five, right? How time flies, but for Mrs B R she’s just coming into her own.
I loved this new view of her from the bench.
She is the belle of the garden. There’s no question.
The new chick in town, however, is ‘Pat Austin’, and she made quite a splash today.
Not too shabby for the third bloom of a pretty flimsy potted rose. She had me at hello.

Hi Sherry, I am glad you got to enjoy your yard today! Taking 427 photos is quite a bit, but obviously you got some very nice shots. Your yard looks very lovely right now and I admire your 'Mrs. B. R. Cant'. What a beauty she is. 'Pat Austin' also looks just plain gorgeous. Hope this David Austin rose will do well for you in the future!

'Mrs Cant' is definitely a beauty, but that gorgeous 'Pat Austin' caught my eye. Such a fabulous colour. Your garden is looking delightful right now and I can understand how it would be easy to while away hours sitting out in it. Love the peaceful nook.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Lovely blog ~ I'm a new follower!
ReplyDeleteBest,

What a nice time you had in the garden yesterday. Lovely roses, wonderful views, fresh air. It's nice to just sit sometimes and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ~ FlowerLady
I just love the Pat Austin rose! Great color. I've put it in my favorite and I think that if I buy a new rose, this one is gonna be the first. Too beautiful! And your garden seems a real pleasure to enjoy! 8)
ReplyDeleteLovely views ! And Mrs, B.R.Cant is a beauty, indeed ! Love the corner with the bench ...
ReplyDeleteHope your Pat Austin does bettern than mine....I found it a bit weak.
ReplyDeleteSome days we just have to enjoy our gardens instead of work in them. Love the different views. Your Mrs. BRCant is a beauty. Pat Austin frustrated me for the first couple of years. She's getting big enough finally for me to see her lovely blooms, and not have them land face down in the dirt. I think she'll be fabulous when she's a little older. It does take time for roses to 'come into their own'.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden and beutiful roses! I am glad that you were taking time enjoying your garden after the hard labor. Your Mrs. BRCant looks fabulous, and that new rose ‘Pat Austin’ is lovely too! Love the color.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. I enjoyed the new view of your garden...it's really shaping up nicely. And, Pat Austin is a beauty. Love the color!
