Gardening tip of the day

You'll be a happier gardener if you do the dishes first.
Of course, I'm not sure what the male equivalent would be, but I am sure the guys can think of one.

The lovely and reliable 'White Maman Cochet', tea rose.

A new Echinacea 'Purple Coneflower' bud about to grace the garden. Please note today's date. Still blooming.

Volunteers are always welcome. This one is Vinca Periwinkle. Hmm, you didn't think I was referring to a human, did you?

A bunch of cheery Echinacea flowers. This one's a hybrid, I think, but can't tell you which one.

Just so you know that I have a handle on my day, dinner is already planned. Thaw-and-eat General Tso's Chicken. Thank goodness for microwaves!

Happy gardening!!

  1. :) Yes, and for canned soup - which is what we've been eating a lot of lately! Your blooms are so very pretty. Oh, I can't get over your White Maman Cochet. What a gorgeous photo, with all the tiny little dew drops all over her petals.

    1. That's a good reminder, HolleyGarden, especially since I just got ten cans on sale! WMC is a special favorite. She never fails to make me ooh and aah at her. I'm going to do a post on her soon.

    1. Susan, I had thoughts of doing a casserole but then got real, and I was right. I don't have a lot of strength left after the garden, but the weeding is DONE. I'm so glad you appreciate the photos. I have fun taking them.

  4. It is so hard to get 'homecaring chores' done before heading out into the gardens.

Your blooms and photos are lovely.

    1. I agree, FlowerLady, and I hardly ever do it. So yesterday I was a good girl and did my duty first. It took an hour to clean up the kitchen, but I felt good about myself and was FREE to do my work in the garden. I'm a procrastinator and I tend to take the easiest road, so my tip was kind of tongue-in-cheek. It was really a tip for ME! 'Homecaring chores' is a good description. Thank you!

  5. I totally agree ... dinner planned, dishes done, laundry washing ... and a day in the garden can be enjoyed without distraction. I'm heading to Trader Joe's this afternoon, and I plan to bring home a cartful of their yummy meals. Perfect empty nest food!

    1. Being undistracted by non-garden issues while in the garden - same for you maybe? - is not a problem for me. I go merrily along until I'm done and then I get slammed by what awaits me in the kitchen. So I decided it doesn't have to work this way. How simple. Isn't this what I was supposed to learn as a teenager? Oh, well, better late than never.

  6. Who cares about the dishes? There's gardening to do! (That's the male approach Sherry).

    1. Absolutely! That IS the male approach. Haha! And sometimes it's MY approach. Thanks for chiming in, Professor.

  7. So glad you're blogging again, Sherry, and back to gardening. Your blog was quiet for way too long. Dishes? I thought that's why we have paper plates!???
